Supporting research to improve the quality, effectiveness, accessibility, and cost effectiveness of health care.
 
Grants aimed at hasten the transformation of medical education by supporting the research, implementation and expansion of key innovations and initiatives developed through the AMA “Accelerating Change in Medical Education” initiative, including: Health systems science, Coaching in support of competency, Transitions along the medical education continuum, The Master Adaptive Learner model and Improving diversity in medical education.
 
Awards recognize and celebrate the integrity, compassion, altruism, respect, empathy and service that must be combined with clinical excellence to provide optimal patient care.
 
Grants typically support projects that improve student outcomes or enhance faculty leadership. Preference for grants applications in the following areas: Civil Discourse on Campus, Purpose-Oriented Education, Advocacy of Liberal Arts
 
Medical Education Grants: Support for education programs for CME/CE for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other health care professionals, as well as activities without continuing education credit.
 
Examples: Conferences, Scientific Forums, Guideline Dissemination Quality Improvement Initiatives, Awards for fellows and young investigators
 
Scientific Sponsorships: Scientific or educational activities designed to educate research scientists, principal researchers, drug development professionals, academics, pre-doctoral students, doctoral students and fellows must be educational and non-promotional in nature and planned, designed and implemented in accordance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Guidance on Industry-Supported Scientific and Educational Activities.
 
Examples: Scientific Conferences, Collaborative Partnerships, Collaborations with Health Services to improve health outcomes, Trial Design Consensus Meeting
 
Fellowships: Programs conducted at host institutions and designed to provide training or advanced education to HCPs or scientists in a particular specialty, Therapeutic area or field of research
Examples:
Fellowships at academic institutions or through medical specialty societies/associations
Scholarship programs operated independently of AstraZeneca
Research internships for medical students and other trainees at academic institutions
 
Community Investment / Community Support: Financial and non-financial (in-kind) support given to registered charity and non-profit organizations for health and health initiatives, science education, fundraisers and disaster relief.
 
Examples: The AstraZeneca Young Health Program, Donations to Red Cross Disaster Appeals, Charity Fundraiser Events
 
Global health care to improve professional competency, performance, and patient outcomes. They accept funding requests within the following therapeutic areas of interest. Areas of interest include (Cardiovascular, Immuno-science, Inflammation and Immunology, Oncology (solid tumor), Hematology). Funding for healthy communities promotes access to healthy foods and safe environments for physical activity. The overall goal of healthy communities is to create community environments that can reinforce healthy choices.
